Ok. Reality set it. Budgets need to be considered. After much consideration, I calculated that it is cheaper/faster/easier for me to order a custom-made battery pack directly from AliExpress. As such, I had to revise my design a bit. Further, I had to scale back what constituted "Phase 1" -- i.e. the bare minimum to bootstrap the project. So by trimming things to the bare bone, I now present to you "Phase 1: PowerVelocity 20kW Controller + QS260 + AliExpress Battery Pack 20s17p @ 72V 57Ah"
Whose bill of materials now looks like the following (most items have been ordered as of today):
    20s17p Li-ion Battery + 120A BMS + 5A Charger. 330x220x140mm (+/-5mm)Wuxing half-twist throttle125A circuit breaker10A circuit breaker2A circuit breaker100mm DIN 35mm railPowerVelocity 20kW controller + Bluetooth appPVC junction boxesGigavac P195 MinitactorZEVA Smart PrechargerBussmann 2P Miniature Distribution Block4AWG Tinned Marine Battery cable2AWG Tinned Marine Battery cable4AWG lugsTerminal bootsAnderson SB175 connector kitProTool Heavy-Duty Battery Cable Terminal Crimping Tool - 8 to 4/0 AWG - TaiwanTOTAL: $2510
Given the 57Ah lithium battery pack @ 80% discharge vs. 20Ah lead battery pack @ 50% discharge, I estimate I will have approximately (57*.8/20*.5) 4.5x more distance with the new lithium system vs. the AGM system -- or darn close to 100mi range per charge. I also expect some improvement in top speed and acceleration due to the improved PV controller (even though the 2000W motor remains unchanged for Phase 1). Next up is to set up a test bench in my basement to wire everything up during the cold winter months ahead.

I saw a vendor a few months ago that offered a ankle biter with a Vari support similar to what you see on the Yam KT-100 above, but I can't find it now

This is very similar to my race Kart set-up, a Yamaha KT100 piston port, it has the Horseman 6 spring clutch with the outboard crank support, this one has a roller bearing, mine used oil-lite bronze bushing ..

Man I knew something cut loose cause I heard it tearing itself apart. After seeing the failure I realize I underestimated two things, the first being having the crank unsupported with the weight of the variator assembly, additionally don’t know why I never thought about the lateral load the shifting of the variator causes on the crankshaft when the belt pushes on the fixed face, until it slides up. I have to do a few more videos for you guys.

I should be able to change the crank, so I’m looking at either getting a 2.2, 4, or 6 over stroker crank. The issue will still stand with the lack of support, but I’m pretty sure rpm has a lot more to do with the failure than the lateral loading of the crank. I’ll probably do a bearing surrport with an extension on the nut or something to control the free end of the crank.

Whoa! Thank for the shout out brother but, WHOA!
What kind of grinding did you hear when that thing broke?
Is that a total engine replacement? Hopefully not!
Nice to hear the voice of one of my biggest supporters!

Sooo hmmm, not sure how to say this. I couldn’t get a photo so here is a video. Anyone want to take a shot of what caused the failure lmao. With the increase in rpm, im pretty sure the stock crank couldn’t take it. Well now I can get a striker crank.

Still you talking here "I'm not gonna let this puke embarrass the WHOLE scooter community with his BS."

    BCY,
Yeah I can't wait to throw that sucker on. I just Hope knows how to act when I hook it up.
Some bikes don't like new exhausts but I'm thinking that has a lot to do with people not knowing about tuning after adding.

Not too sure how much damage as yet unitl I get it apart, I'm seeing shards of variator fan coming out the back. I also windowed the clutch to try to get some more cooling of the cvt. I'm 100% sure at least the sliders ejected, I also cut a mini window under the vartiator, I can see a slider through the cut out. I'll get her back together by tonight. Doesn't seem that I added a window in the engine case which is good, so I'm sure I can fix the CVT.
