I have gone through everything and I do not see anything that looks to be causing the issue. The valve guides do not leak, cylinder walls look good, so I am now thinking it might have been a carb float issue (way too rich to be just jets). Bottom line, I need to put the engine back together and I will be needing some gaskets. Since Dan is no longer in the parts business, can anyone recommend a supplier that handles quality parts?

    Very nice bcy.

Did you happen to measure the Squish while you were in there and if so with the Piston proud what was it?

With that entire package your going to have allot to show and tell so don't be shy I enjoy the read, pics and videos.

I didn't measure the squish to be honest, I may pull it back apart this weekend and check it for you all to see. I had to repair the engine brace so I want to pull it for inspection anyway. I'll let you know what I come up with. So far the engine is pretty responsive and I was able to give it a start to a good break in through the morning traffic as as its a lot of stop and go with varying engine loads.

That pretty much did the whole job, what a mess. Guess you know what not to do next time.

it’s all good Fidy, this is all a part of finding weak links and ways to improve. I’m lucky I don’t run one of those ankle biter type things, that could have ejected in any direction.

Thats one awesome grenade job bcy..

Those go on the wall of fame as offerings to the God of Speed...

I think we should start some award program or something for the best Grenade, you the winner so far...

I’ll be keeping this trophy for sure.

This gives me a chance to run an engine I got a while ago. A beast of an engine from our good friend Dan, the NCY engine. I was able to buy it when he liquidated. I have to check the piston to valve clearance to be sure we are good to go, but as it stands now there is no binding, but as rpm increases we all know what happens.

Dan I’ll do my best not to grenade this engine.

Marketing departments have put a whole bunch of names on things like Posi-Tractin back in the day then became Limited Slip from GM, Ford uses Trac-Lok in one place and in some option choices call it a Detroit Locker.

I think the locking device your referring to is this for a Dana 60 rear end.

Now look how marketing attached a whole bunch of names.

The above is more what I have in my Interceptor and in my  91 Silverado. a Clutch type limited slip Detroit Locker by Eaton corp.

Eaton axle was a very long time customer of my father, they were out of Cleveland..

The jeep world calls that a "lunchbox locker" but it's really a cheap way to get a Detroit locker typology. If I would go with the Detroit style, I'd get the true Detroit instead of the lunchbox. Stock my Jeep still has the Dana 30 in front and the 35 in the rear:046:. I'm thinking of getting G2 Dana 44's for the front and rear and they have some options for lockers or LSDs installed.
