If you get continuity from the battery positive to the engine, there is indeed a short, that will fry your harness and possibly light a fire, disconnect the battery until you find the faulty cable.

Have you tried with a fresh spark plug?, the Chinese ones are prone to failure.

Look at this one, build by a local guy, 11.650 on the 1/4 mile, bored up to 200cc.

Lots of those around here in Costa Rica as well, here they are called the Yamaha Crux, they are simple machines, reliable as hell, and easy to drive; it is a lot of bike for the money it costs. People mod them a lot, big bores, loud exhausts, lower ground clearance, among other things.

    Awesome, thanks a lot Piston!!
Not sure what is the pipe made of, but there is lots of rust on it already!!, if it cracks at some point, that would be a perfect excuse to get a FMF kit

    Thoughts on header heatwrap
Hey gang, the XR is frying my leg when stuck on a traffic jam, exhaust being the main offender, what do you think about heatwrapping the exhaust?, doing some research the main disadvantage I found is it reduces the life of the headers because of stuck humidity on the wrapping tape. Are there any other concerns I should consider?

Can you post a video?, that would really help find the issue.

If bogging at low RPMs, it could be a CVT issue like the one I had long ago, a worn down roller flipping to it's side causing poor acceleration.

I do it all the time, after a few 100s kilometers some oil "gets lost" between oil changes, so I just fill it up with new oil over the old one, no issues so far.

    Nate hit us hard
Hey gang, I got electricity and cellphone signal back yesterday, last Thursday and Friday it rained hard for 30 hours non stop, roads to the city are closed and so where fuel stations, I had to pump fuel out of the truck to fill the motorcycle and go looking for water, food and fuel crossing bad roads and land slides, I'm so glad I got a dirt bike!
I have lots of videos taken by my helmet cam, I will edit them and post them here when they are ready, stay tuned.
