  1. gy6passion added a post in a topic Air filter for Taida gy6 232cc 4v

    Hi everybody,
I have a K&N RC-9080 filter at home; I bought it a few months ago but I have not used it yet. It is a little big but I managed to install it on the engine.

Performance improved immediately (acceleration and top speed (74mph)). I must refine the settings of the carburetor. I am thinking of using an oxygen sensor to do it.
Remember to apply filter oil before using it if you plan to do the same.

    Air filter for Taida gy6 232cc 4v
    Hi guys,
I need your advice for the air filter to use on a Taida 232cc 4v engine.

    For information :
    I use a PWK OKO 30mm carburetor;
    I just installed a new exhaust;
All I have to do is buy an air filter and start the carburetor adjustment.

While searching on the internet, I found on this kit which seems to me easy to install:

    But I need your advice:

Does the air filter delivered with the kit (UNI UP-4245 CLAMP-ON "POD") can allow the Taida 232cc 4v engine to provide all these performances?

If not, what are you proposing?
If necessary, here is the web page of UNI which informs about the filter above and the filters that you can advise me : https://unifilter.com/online-catalog/clamp-on-air-filters/
    Thank you in advance.

    Hi guys,
The installation is finished. It was easy.
First, I made a small support for the radiator, just a small rectangle in steel (the dimensions are identical to those of the radiator). I welded it behind the front wheel and fixed the radiator on it. I think this is the best location.

Then I measured and connected the oil lines. For information, I use Taida banjos for the connection with the engine.

I made more than 310 miles with varied rpm but no sign of engine overheating. Unfortunately I do not have an oil temperature sensor. I am satisfied with the result.
Here are the links if you plan to do the same:

Large oil cooler for gy6 232cc
In order to improve the cooling of my gy6, a 232cc, I decided to use a large oil radiator and choose a well-ventilated location. Here are all parts I ordered :
1 - UNIVERSAL ALUMINUM REMOTE TRANSMISSION OIL COOLER : $28.76

I chose this model because in my opinion we should not lose a lot of oil pressure.
2 - 10 Feet Black AN6 Nylon And Stainless Steel Braided Fuel Oil Gas Line Hose 6AN : $16.15

You can easily find these parts on ebay.
The pictures of the montage will come but in the meantime, tell me what you think.

Yes, I will do that if I can not find a support for the oil filter.
I already use this oil pump :

    Until now no !
    Before I used this :

    but problems are :
1- the oil lines are too short for my scooter and I have a lot of trouble installing it (installed in the wrong place)
2- similarly, it takes a lot of work to replace the oil filter because of its location
3- and to finish its performance as a cooler does not suit me. It is perfect for 125 and 150cc not for 190cc and more.

To improve the cooling, I decided to use a large radiator and install an oil filter with an adapter (mount) if possible.
I encourage everyone to use a real oil filter with a gy6 because there are lot of advantages. But the oil filter must be small (like KN-183) to avoid loosing much pressure because the oil still has to go up to the cylinder head.

    Oil filter mount for a KN-183 on a gy6
    Hi everyone,
I would like to use a real oil filter on a gy6 engine. My choice is KN-183:

    Here are the dimensions :
    Height : 3.063 in (78 mm)
    Outside Diameter : 2.156 in (55 mm)
Removal Nut Size : 17 mm
    Thread Specification : M14 x 1.5
I am lost with the dimensions and can not identify the right support (mount) for the filter.
Can someone give me a link (US if possible) where I can buy a support (mount) for this filter ? Something like this :

    or :

As soon as all parts are gathered, I will post the project on this forum.
    Thanks for you answers !
